IBM Inaugurates in Toluca its Fifth Office in Mexico


The new office will support the growing industrial sector in the fifth biggest city in Mexico

METEPEC, State of Mexico, October 24th, 2012 – IBM announced today the opening of a new office in Toluca –the fifth biggest city in Mexico- as part of its expansion in the cities with more growth worldwide.
Located in the central-south region of Mexico, the office in the metropolitan zone of Toluca (located in the Metepec zone) represents an approximate investment of 4 million dollars and becomes the fifth city that IBM inaugurates in Mexico, after the ones which are located in Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey and Querétaro.
“Our expansion in the cities with a rapid growth in Mexico, such as Toluca, matches the growing demand of intelligent solutions for the organizations across the region”, said Hugo Santana Londoño, IBM Chairman and General Director in Mexico and Central America.
“With the opening of the office in Toluca, IBM reaffirms its commitment in the long run with a growing number of customers and business associates, who will be benefited with our direct presence in the region”, said Santana Londoño.
As an important industrial area, Toluca’s economy has experience a radical transformation in the last years. At the same time it has been incremented investments in infrastructure and resources, the city has increased its contribution to the domestic and regional economy.
Throughout the last two decades, Mexico has had important reforms to liberalize its economy, which has generated the creation of urban centers of rapid growth throughout the country. Toluca’s central location –in the State of Mexico– as well as its proximity with Mexico City, makes it an important development center and an industrial power.
Toluca’s growing transformation has generated the technologies’ demand by organizations which look forward to being more efficient and competitive. Intelligent solutions provided by IBM in this market have the purpose of supporting them to reach the next evolution phase in this growing economy.
Through an exhausted investment program which covers facilities, personnel hiring, training, academic agreements with Institutions of Higher Education, as well as equipment donations supporting children’s education and consulting of international specialists to the capital city of the State –programs of corporative citizenship KidSmart and Smarter Cities Challenge-, IBM will assist in a direct form the customers and business associates’ needs in the region.  
The new office represents the continuous IBM investment in the country, where it expects to make deeper its presence according to the growing demand of TI products and services.
Last September, IBM announced the opening of its Intelligent Data Center, located in the Technological Campus in Guadalajara City. It is the first site of his category in the country which supports business transformation and company and government institutions’ services, with the purpose of improving its operations in a global economic environment.  
As part of IBM global net of more than 400 Data Centers which provide customers Access to tools and TI resources, knowledge transfer, better practices and a global standard, the Data Center represented an investment of 30 million dollars in the commitment for the country’s development and growth.

With more than 85 years in México, IBM is currently investing in Mexican operations: placing advanced infrastructure for the services’ delivery, improving its manufacturing capacities and expanding its presence in locations of high growth potential.
